Accurately Monitor and Detect Refrigerant Gas Leaks with the ART Infrared Detector

The ART Infrared Gas Detector is a state-of-the-art, fixed, non-dispersive infrared refrigerant transmitter used to detect a wide range of refrigerant gases. The fast-responding infrared sensor accurately detects refrigerant gas leaks without cross-interference from toxic or combustible gases, minimizing false alarms. It can be used as a stand-alone system or integrated into a building management system (BMS).

Key features of this refrigerant monitor include:

  • Single channel, long life, non-dispersive infrared refrigerant sensor
  • Accurate, low-level leak detection with no cross-interference from non-refrigerant gases
  • One internal relay
  • Internal audible alarm
  • Detects a wide range of refrigerants
  • Modbus® RTU interface to connect to BAS/BMS systems
  • Bright, alpha-numeric, LED display with visual and audible alarms
  • User-selectable Modbus® or analog output:
    • 4-20 mA
    • 0-5V
    • 1-5V
    • 0-10V
    • 2-10V
  • RoHS compliant circuit boards

Applications that could benefit from implementing this device range from supermarkets and convenience stores to refrigerated mechanical and commercial chiller equipment rooms, and food storage and processing facilities. However, many more applications and industries can utilize the ART’s technology to better operate and store chemicals.

The sensor is a non-dispersive infrared with a 5 to 7-year life span and a detection range of 0-3,500 ppm. Readings below 75 ppm are squelched by default, meaning when filtering is disabled, the unit will respond to concentrations sub -10 ppm. Device response time is 90 seconds, giving plenty of time to alert of hazardous conditions and notify personnel. ART’s display is a red 4-digit alpha-numeric LED with fault monitoring codes presented to the user. Its audible alarm sounds at 80dB with an internal buzzer that can be enabled and disabled. Alarm delay can be selectable and can be delayed 0-15 minutes.
